Dr. Lisa McDermott grew up in Buffalo, New York and later moved to Austin, Texas. She has been involved in healthcare for many years. She first attended the University of Texas in Austin’s School of Pharmacy. Once trained, she worked as a Pharmacist at Parkland Hospital in Dallas for five years before returning to medical school. She received her Doctorate of Medicine at University of Texas: Southwestern and completed an Internal Medicine residency at Duke Medical Center in Durham, NC. She moved to Charlottesville in 2003 to work at Martha Jefferson Hospital as a Hospitalist. She remained there till earlier this year in 2021 when she began working with Health and Wellness Medical Services. In addition to medicine and caring for her patients, she finds joy in artistic pursuits. In her spare time, she plays violin with the Waynesboro Symphony Orchestra and Crozet Community Orchestra. Lisa also has a passion for painting, enjoying the medium of watercolor.
